From staff reports
The Ridges Café will open at Kennedy Museum of Art, located in historic Lin Hall on The Ridges.
The café will provide staff, students, museum visitors and community members the opportunity to enjoy a snack or a meal and experience the changing exhibitions in the museum’s galleries and the uniqueness and history of The Ridges.
The café, whose construction was funded by a gift from Ohio University alumni Wilfred and Ann Lee Konneker, will offer signature bakery items, breakfast items, paninis and other sandwiches, soups, espresso and a variety of beverages. The café will be open early for breakfast and lunch. Patrons can enter the café through a new outside entrance directly into the café as well as from the museum’s main entrance or through the new handicap accessible entrance.
In a contest held in late November, Kennedy Museum encouraged students and Athens community members to submit entries to name the new café. The museum’s Café Committee members chose The Ridges Café as the winning entry from over 60 submissions. Congratulations to Shawna Bolin, assistant university planner in Facilities Planning and Space Management at Ohio University and Athens community member, Mark Parkinson, who both submitted the winning name and will receive a $50 gift certificate for The Ridges Café.
Keep an eye out for announcements about the grand opening celebration. The Ridges Café website will display the menu and operating hours at www.ohio.edu/musem/café. For more information, please call 740-593-1304 or visit www.ohio.edu/museum/cafe.
