Ohio University Lancaster, local media to host issues forum

Ohio University's Lancaster campus and the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette will host a forum on the local issues Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. in Wagner Theater. The public is invited.

Presenters will discuss the issues voters will encounter on the ballot during early voting in October and at the polls on Election Day. Nov. 8:

  • Historic Parks Levy, David Fey, superintendent of the Fairfield County Historic Parks District, and Lori Marinacci, parks district board member

  • Lancaster City Income Tax, David Smith, mayor

  • Lancaster City Streets Property Tax, Ken Culver, president of Lancaster City Council, and Robert Slagle, member of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee

  • Lancaster City Schools Bond Issue, Rob Walker, superintendent of Lancaster City Schools, and Mina Ubbing, CEO of Fairfield Medical Center

  • Statewide Issue 2, representatives from Building a Better Ohio and We Are Ohio.

Linda Trautman, assistant professor of political science at the Lancaster campus, and Jim Sabin, managing editor of Lancaster Eagle-Gazette Media, will moderate the discussion. Lancaster campus electronic media students will film the event.

Questions for the presenters may be submitted in advance to the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette or in person as the doors open Thursday night.

The forum will be available for viewing at www.lancastereaglegazette.com and on Time Warner Cable’s LSN and will air on local radio station WLOH.
