Teach for America to host two online sessions

Wednesday webinar to focus on leadership

Teach for America will hold two online informational and professional development webinar events on Wednesday and May 25.

The webinars focus on how to develop leadership skills and increase competitiveness for post-graduate opportunities. Participants will also learn more about the Teach for American program.

Wednesday’s webinar is "Developing Your Leadership Potential." It will take place at 9 p.m. and will be hosted online by Steven Farr, Teach for America's Chief Knowledge Officer and author of "Teaching As Leadership: The Highly Effective Teacher's Guide to Closing the Achievement Gap." He will discuss how to increase effectiveness as a leader.

Teach for America's second webinar, "Corps Member and Alumni Stories" will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25. It will include a panel of corps members and alumni discussing their corps experience and the impact it had on their lives.

According to its website, Teach for America's mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting the most promising future leaders in the effort.

Participants commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools, while Teach for America provides the necessary training and ongoing support to ensure their success as teachers in low-income communities.
