Lug Hockey League

Ohio University has partnered with LUG Sports to bring a new college hockey league experience to campus. LUG Hockey is a recreational college hockey league with over 20,000 players across the U.S. and Canada. Players in LUG receive a full hockey season (13+ games) on campus, replica team jerseys with matching socks, certified officials, prizes, team gear, and more. The winning team also qualifies to compete against other champions from colleges nearby. Registration opens September 20th, 2023 and spaces are limited. Players can join with their own team or as Free Agents to be placed on a team. LEARN MORE  

Drop In Hockey

Drop In Hockey is an open recreation, pick up hockey game time for all levels. No registration is required- Entry fee is $10.00 at the Front Desk. Full hockey equipment is required (helmet, neck guard, body pads, mouth guard, gloves, shin pads, specialized goalie gear, etc.) Equipment is not provided by Bird Arena. Drop In Hockey occurs every Sunday from 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. For more information or accommodations, call 740.593.4623 or email campus.recreation@ohio.edu!

**The normal time slot for Drop In Hockey on Sunday 2/5 will not be observed

Bird Arena Drop In Hockey Policies and Procedures:

•No body checking.

•No slap shots.

•No wrestling or fighting inside Bird Arena at any time.

•Do not enter the ice until the resurfacer has cleared the ice and the doors have been shut.

•No alcohol or tobacco products are permitted inside Bird Arena at any time.

•Vandalism may result in prosecution and/or loss of access to Bird Arena and all programs.

•Bird Arena is not responsible for lost, damaged, or missing items.

•All participants must sign a waiver before entering the ice.

•Full equipment is required. (helmet, body pads, neck guard, mouth guard, gloves, shin pads, specialized goalie gear, etc.) Equipment is not provided by Bird Ice Arena. Skates available for rental at the front desk. •Helmets are mandatory for all participants and any players on the bench.

•Report any ice or rink damage to Bird Ice Arena staff.

•Report all injuries to Bird Ice Arena Staff. First Aid is available from all Bird Arena staff.

  • Sundays: 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.

Stick and Puck

Fall 2023- Starting October 2. Pricing can be found under Fees and Membership Rates.

  • Mondays: 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (14 & under)
  • Tuesdays: 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. (15 & over)
  • Wednesdays: 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. (14 & under)
  • Thursdays: 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. (15 & over) *There will be no Stick and Puck observed on 2/22

Holiday Stick & Puck Session: December 28- 4:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
