Financial Aid
Graduate assistantships, research assistantships, fellowships and scholarships are available in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department. For a graduate assistantship or a graduate research assistantship, 20 hours of work per week during the whole quarter is expected. The department also offers a limited number of Graduate Recruitment Scholarship (GRS) contracts which require 10 hours of work per week.
Questions concerning these may be directed to the ISE Graduate Committee Chair or the Department Chair. Department needs, special skills and capabilities of the applicants, and the availability of funds will determine to whom such awards are made.
International students should be aware that the ability to communicate in oral (Ohio Speak Test) and written form is a primary factor considered in the awarding of financial aid.
Stocker Fellowships are available to U.S. citizens who have an earned undergraduate GPA of 3.50 or above. Stocker fellows receive one to two years of stipend and tuition scholarship. Teaching assistantships, research assistantships and tuition scholarships are available to students who have an earned undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or above or have a 3.33 average or better on graduate course work.
Students who are on academic probation, taking courses in the Ohio Program in Intensive English, or who have been admitted conditionally are not eligible for appointment to graduate assistantships. Each master's student will have a maximum of three regular quarters of departmental financial support. Beyond the first quarter, continuation of their assistantships will depend upon their progressing satisfactorily towards completion of their degrees.
