Program Educational Objectives
The ISE Program Educational Objectives are capabilities that our graduates should be able to demonstrate in their workplace during the first few years after graduation. These capabilities form the basis for success in a variety of industrial engineering careers and equip the graduates with abilities to continue their learning and professional development as industrial and systems engineers.
Within the framework of the department mission statement, the ISE Program Educational Objectives are established as:
- Graduate engineers who are able to design, develop, and implement systems which integrate people, materials, equipment, information, and energy.
- Graduates of the ISE Program should demonstrate a professional attitude, integrity, and commitment to life-long learning in their work.
Program Outcomes
The ISE program outcomes are derived directly from the ISE program educational objectives in such that each program educational objective defines a set of program outcomes which need to be accomplished in order to achieve the objective. The Program Outcomes are:
Obj1: Graduate engineers who are able to design, develop, and implement systems which integrate people, materials, equipment, information and energy
1a-ISE: The ability to apply appropriate industrial engineering methods and techniques to complex systems
1b-STEM: The ability to apply concepts of engineering science, mathematics, physics and chemistry
1c-SOFTWARE: The ability to utilize and apply software relevant to industrial and manufacturing systems engineering
1d-DOE: The ability to design, conduct and analyze statistically valid experiments
1e-COM: Interpersonal and professional communication
1f-LEAD: Teamwork and leadership
Obj2: Graduates of the ISE Program should demonstrate a professional attitude, integrity, and commitment to life-long learning in their work,
2a-LIFE The identification and recognition of the need to continue learning by both formal and informal means
2b-SERVICE Appreciation of the relevance of industrial engineering fundamentals and practice to non-manufacturing areas
2c-ETHICS Integrity, cultural awareness, and ethical behavior
Furthermore, each Program Outcome is represented by a collection of Program Skills, which lead to achievement of Program Outcomes. Click here for the detailed description of Program Skills.
