Students from BME faculty member's lab are headed to Rio
Two undergraduates who conduct research in the laboratory of biomedical engineering program faculty member Monica Burdick won Ohio University Student Enhancement Awards to travel to Brazil in December to work with one of Burdick's collaborators, Leonardo Nimrichter of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
While abroad, Courtney Abram and Jocelyn Marshall, both junior chemical engineering majors, will continue their research project on biophysical/biochemical characterization of cancer cell glycosphingolipids. They will be in Brazil for several weeks.
In March, Marshall was named the recipient of an award from the Provost's Undergraduate Research Fund.
