International Student Instructions
International applicants must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores (exemptions described below). The minimum TOEFL score for admission to the biomedical engineering program is 590 (paper-based), 243 (computer-based), or 96 (Internet-based). The minimum IELTS score for admission is 7.0 overall. Students who do not submit TOEFL or IELTS results with the application must be tested after arriving on campus. If you do not meet our admission standards at that time, you must enroll in English classes, which may delay progress toward the degree and reduce your financial assistance. If you do not exceed the university minimum scores, you cannot enter the degree program and you must take English classes at your own expense.
TOEFL/IELTS exemptions: Native speakers of English with a bachelor’s or graduate degree from an English-medium university in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, or New Zealand need not provide TOEFL/IELTS scores with their application and need not take the TOEFL/IELTS exam upon arrival. Applicants from predominantly English-speaking countries with a bachelor’s or graduate degree from an English-medium university need not provide TOEFL/IELTS scores with their applications, even if English is not their first language, but must take the TOEFL/IELTS upon arrival if they did not submit official scores with the application.
February 1 is the deadline for priority financial assistance. March 1 is the deadline for international applications without financial assistance for a fall start. This allows plenty of time for you to receive an I-20 and a visa. We will not rush production of an I-20 for a late applicant.
