Summary
A national placement exam will be administered to students wishing to enroll in Chemistry 151 (Fundamentals of Chemistry). Those who pass (score 34 or better) will enter directly into Chemistry 151 and will be judged to have a background for potential success in the course. Those who do not pass the Chemistry 151 exam are not yet ready to begin the series. and will take Chemistry 150 (Concepts of Chemistry).

Date & Time

Chem 151 is offered  Fall Quarter, Winter Quarter, and First Summer Session.

Chem 150 is offered First Summer Session, Fall Quarter, and Spring Quarter.

The Placement Exam

Dates:

Chem 151 Placement Exam:
The Chemistry placement exam will be given  at 4:10-5:00 pm in Clippinger 194 Monday November 2, Tuesday November 3, Wednesday November 4 and Thursday November 5.

If you need to take Chem 151 but you haven't taken the placement exam, attend class (whatever suits your schedule), take the Placement Exam at times above (the sooner, the better) and then get your registration completed.  Missing even one class of Chem 151 hurts you.  In the event you do not pass the Chem 151 Placement Exam, it is better for you to enter Chem 150 a day late than to miss class in Chem 151.

Please bring pencils, a calculator, and your student ID. to the examination.  You will then register for the appropriate lecture and lab sessions.
