Outstanding Graduate Rylee Galloway shines bright

Ohio University Southern recognized Rylee Galloway, a standout student who embodies excellence both inside and outside the classroom, with an Outstanding Graduate award. Galloway, a Proctorville native, received the award for her remarkable achievements during her time pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business with a minor in Marketing at Ohio University.

To qualify as an Outstanding Graduate, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5, actively participate in University activities, engage in community service and demonstrate notable accomplishments such as receiving awards or contributing to research projects. Additionally, candidates are recommended by esteemed faculty members, further validating their exceptional academic and personal qualities.

Upon graduation, Galloway plans to savor a well-deserved summer break before embarking on her professional career, recognizing the importance of balance between academic pursuits and personal well-being and demonstrating a pragmatic approach to life transitions.

Galloway's confidence remained unwavering throughout her four years at Ohio University. “I always believed in myself, and finishing school was my top priority,” she said.

Choosing Ohio University Southern was a strategic decision for Galloway, driven by factors such as affordability and convenience. Her approach to higher education reflects a keen awareness of the value proposition offered by Ohio University.

Among the faculty who left a lasting impression on Galloway, Assistant Professor of Instruction in Early and Middle Childhood Education Martha Evans stands out as a favorite. Galloway praised Evans for her genuine care and unwavering support. “She made me feel like I could talk to her or ask her anything any time,” said Galloway, emphasizing the profound impact of compassionate mentorship on her academic journey.

Navigating the complexities of academic and personal commitments posed a significant challenge for Galloway, particularly in mastering the art of time management. However, through resilience and determination, she overcame these obstacles, refining her organizational skills to optimize her productivity.

Amidst the academic rigors, Galloway cherishes fond memories of camaraderie and shared experiences with peers, particularly in the nursing department. “My favorite OHIO memories are any days I’m working with Chelsea (Harris) and Anna (Payne). They’ve made the past two years so much fun,” she said. These moments of camaraderie underscore the vibrant community spirit that defines the Ohio University Southern experience.

As she bids farewell to Ohio University, Galloway offers sage advice to incoming students, urging them to seize every opportunity to engage in campus events and activities. “I would suggest going to as many events as you can,” she said. By immersing themselves fully in the rich tapestry of student life, students can cultivate meaningful connections and enrich their college experience.

As Galloway begins the next chapter of her life, her legacy serves as an inspiration to future generations of students striving to achieve their academic and personal aspirations. Ohio University Southern’s Graduation Recognition Ceremony for fall 2023 and spring 2024 classes is scheduled for Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m.
