Bike Rodeo rides into Athens Community Center

Free event features bicycle safety education, raffle for free children’s bicycle

(ATHENS, Ohio – May 3, 2012) The 11th annual Athens Bike Rodeo rides into the Athens Community Center, Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.

Children of all ages from all Athens County schools are invited to bring their bikes and helmets to the free event, which focuses on bicycle safety education. All children must be accompanied by an adult to participate.

Children can learn bicycle hand signals and bicycle navigation techniques, have their bicycles inspected, ride a cool safety course and visit Safety Town. A limited number of free bike helmets will be available for participants generously provided by University Medical Associates and TEAMHealth Midwest, and a children’s mountain bike from Athens Bicycle will raffled to one lucky winner. Only children pre-registered for the event will be entered into the raffle.

Pre-register by Friday, May 18, at noon by e-mailing and providing the child’s and parents’ names, the child’s school, grade level and bike style, address, phone number and e-mail address.
