Halloween weekend festivities have become a widely known in Athens. Ohio University and Athens officials implement rules and regulations to keep students, residents and guests safe.
Special Halloween rules and regulations regarding Ohio University’s parking facilities and residence halls will be enforced beginning Friday, Oct. 28.
Only OHIO faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students will be permitted to park in university parking lots and garages.
Current or valid parking permits must clearly be displayed on the rear view mirror of the car.
Currently enrolled students without valid parking permits will not be permitted to park in university lots.
Vehicles in violation of these parking regulations will be cited and towed at the owner’s/driver’s expense.
Off-campus parking will be available at the Athens County Fairgrounds for $10 (for the entire weekend), with shuttle buses running to and from campus.
Students can register one guest online through the MyHousing system from Oct. 17-22.
A $25 dollar fee will be charged to the student account of those who have guests that actually arrive in Athens during the weekend.
Roommates must approve the presence of guests online through MyHousing any time between Oct. 23-25. If a guest is not approved then the registration will be canceled.
Wristbands will be issued to residential students as well as their guests.
Students not wearing a wristband must show their student ID to gain access to their buildings. They will also not be permitted to enter any other residence hall.
Guests not wearing their wristband will not be permitted to enter the residence hall.
The locks on the residence hall doors will be changed. Students must enter through the main entrance.
