ATHENS, Ohio (April 16, 2014)—The Ohio University Forensics Team, coached by Cassese Director of Forensics Dan West, will be competing in two national tournaments in the coming weeks.
The first of these is the National Forensics Association tournament, to be conducted April 16-22, at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich. Three students will be competing. These students each took home a national championship at the PCSDL Nationals conducted Feb. 22 and 23 at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
The second tournament of the month is the Interstate Oratory National Tournament, on April 24-26. This competition will be held at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.
Ryan Carrigan, a sophomore standout, is competing in five events at the national level, more than any other team member.
The Forensics Team at OHIO dates back to 1811, when the first campus debate occurred. OHIO is one of only two institutions to attend every NFA national tournament since its inception in 1970.
