European Studies Undergraduate Certificate

Ohio University students studying away in Germany pose at the Louvre Pyramid.

The Global Studies Program also offers a certificate in European Studies for students who wish to add an international dimension to their majors. Similar to a minor, a certificate allows students to gain a broad understanding of the region. It is open to students from any major.

The program is designed to prepare students to understand the changing nature of European economies, culture, and politics. The curriculum involves courses from many disciplines and encourages students to study abroad. The interdisciplinary coursework and language skills of the European Studies Certificate are applicable to a wide variety of professions.

Eligibility and Required Coursework

To earn a certificate in European Studies, students will complete approximately 12 credit hours of core and elective courses in addition to two years (4 semesters) of language study. While we encourage students to study or intern in Europe, study away is not required for the certificate program. For an updated list of program requirements, please see the course catalog.
