Progress Surveys Expand based on Popular Demand

August 22, 2019

Progress Surveys are now available for all undergraduate Ohio University students in lectures and seminars with more than 7 students in the class. Previously, only students in specific populations (athletes, first generation college students, etc.) were listed on Progress Surveys. More than 30 faculty requested that Progress Surveys include ALL the students on their roster. This request was considered by many faculty and staff, including Faculty Senate, and there was agreement that this expansion would have a positive impact and should be available for all Ohio University students.

Fall Semester Progress Survey Dates

October 2: Survey Opens -- Deployment Message goes to all faculty with a survey

October 9: Survey Closes at 11 p.m.

Progress Survey expectations remain the same:

  • Instructors should use their professional judgement regarding student performance. It is not necessary to specifically calculate grades.
  • Students who are struggling significantly should be identified on Progress Surveys.
  • All Progress Survey feedback is sent to students and their academic advisors via email.
  • Instructors may also note students who are excelling, but that is not part of the expectation.
  • Not every student needs feedback via a Progress Survey.

Feedback regarding Progress Surveys is always welcome! Contact kleinj2@ohio.edu if you would like to talk about your experience with Progress Surveys or you have ideas for improvement.
