Ohio University’s Women’s Club of Greater Cleveland supports OHIO women with annual fall brunch

OHIO women are invited to an afternoon of fellowship and scholarship in Cleveland this weekend.

Ohio University Women's Club of Greater Cleveland hosts its Annual Fall Luncheon and Holiday Auction this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brennan’s Catering and Banquet Center, 13000 Triskett Road, Cleveland. The cost to attend is $30.

The event, open to OHIO Women’s Club members, alumnae, and guests, supports the Club’s Freshman Scholarship, which is awarded to women in the Cleveland area attending Ohio University.

 “The fall auction is open to anyone who wants to contribute to the efforts of the Women’s Club. People bring their sisters, friends, and older alumnae together for these events to support to the Bobcat network,” said Tyler Gagai, assistant director of external relations for the OHIO Alumni Association.

Last year’s fall brunch and auction hosted more than 70 attendees, and 136 items donated by alumnae were sold to support the scholarship.

The Greater Cleveland Women’s Club was founded in 1939 to provide scholarship opportunities for the University to freshmen women in the Cleveland area who will be attending Ohio University. The Cleveland Chapter also supports the funding of the Ruth Fowler Brown Endowed Scholarship to junior and senior women. To date, nearly 290 female freshmen and upperclassmen scholarships have been awarded.

The club, which received the 2014 Outstanding Chapter Award from the Association, offers a number of events throughout the year to promote networking among members. Annual events include the fall brunch and the Spring Scholarship Luncheon.

Any woman who has completed class work at Ohio University, the wife of any alumni or former student, or any female friend of Ohio University is eligible to apply for membership.
