Accessible OHIO: Workplace accommodations and how can I refer someone?

At Ohio University, we embrace that we have a collective responsibility to create the opportunity for people with disabilities to have an accessible and inclusive experience whether a student, employee, visitor, or community member. There are many simple ways we can all contribute to the development and maintenance of an accessible and inclusive environment. Accessible OHIO: It’s What We Do highlights a series of actions that any of us may take – no expertise required!

What are workplace accommodations and how can I refer someone?

A reasonable accommodation in the workplace is an adjustment or modification to a work environment or process that allows an employee with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job, participate in the application process, or enjoy the benefits of their employment.

Regardless of campus or type of employment (faculty, student, part-time, temporary, etc.), all employees with disabilities may request accommodations. Employees  should be directed to the Office for University Accessibility process for requesting accommodations and may contact OUA with any questions.
