‘90 Minutes Series’ talks continue in November

The Ohio University “90 Minutes Series,” now in its third year of existence, hosts speakers that talk about subjects like racism, sexism, politics and other global topics. The free talks are informative and open to the public.

These are the upcoming fall semester “90 Minutes Series” talks:

Kwame Ajamu will present, “Tales from Death Row,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Morton Hall 201. In 1975, as a teenager in Cleveland, he was sentenced to death for murder and robbery. The sole evidence against him and his two co-defendants was the false, coerced eyewitness testimony of 13-year-old Eddie Vernon, who later played a role in exonerating the three men. In January 2003, Ajamu was released from prison still carrying the stigma of being arrested for a heinous crime he did not commit. Come hear his story.

Writer and filmmaker Branson Wright will discuss his documentary, “The Blur,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Morton Hall 201. The documentary tells the story of Dwight Anderson, who was the number one basketball player in the U.S. before his life ended up in shambles. The documentary is inspirational for people who dream big and refuse to let failures bog them down forever.

This year, the "90 Minutes Series" is sponsored by: The Black Student Cultural Programming Board; E.W Scripps School of Communication; Housing and Residence Life; Institute for Applied and Professional Ethics; Associated Press Sports Editors; Office of Student Affairs; Honors Tutorial College; Multicultural Center; and the Office of the President.
