iCUE Spotlight: April 6-12, 2017

What's happening this week at Ohio U.

We're hurtling toward the end of spring semester here at Ohio University and hints of summer are everywhere! From the hammocks set up all over College Green to the joggers on the bike path, it seems everyone is anxious to be out of their classrooms or offices and outside enjoying the weather. But don't forget about all the fantastic events still happening outdoors and indoors on campus in these last few weeks! There are lots of exciting concerts, fairs and exhibitions to be beheld before we go our separate ways for the summer months. Remember, the Calendar of University Events (CUE) is the official campus-wide calendar for Ohio University. And anyone with an OHIO ID can add events that are happening on all OHIO campuses.

Here are a few highlights from the week ahead:

United States Navy Band to Perform in Athens (Thursday, April 6, 7:30-8:30 p.m., Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium): The United States Navy Band is coming straight from Washington, D.C. for the final performance of their national tour! Don't miss this special performance by the band, which frequently performs at the White House and the U.S. Capitol building and has also performed at 21 presidential inaugural ceremonies so far. Additionally, members of several local high school bands will join in onstage for John Philip Sousa's Washington Post March! This is a free concert, but tickets are required and must be picked up from the Memorial Auditorium box office.

Teacher Job Fair (Monday, April 10, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Baker University Center Ballroom): Attention, education majors! This is your opportunity to network with schools and school districts from across the country right here in Athens! All current OHIO students and alumni are welcome to connect with recruiters, explore opportunities, and practice your network and interviewing skills at this fair put on by the Career Leadership and Development Center! Networking will take place from 8-9:30 a.m. and interviewing will take place from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. after a short break.

A Global Taste (Wednesday, April 12, 5-7:00 p.m. Baker University Center Ballroom): Are you interested in studying abroad? How about some free food? This event combines the best of both worlds! Come on out to Baker Ballroom and explore the enormous number of study abroad and study away programs offered at Ohio University! While you peruse your options, you can also chow down on some delicious food from all over the world to put you in an international state of mind. You can make the most of your time at OHIO by expanding your horizons and exploring a whole different culture, and it starts right here!

#CUEtip: When you submit an event, use a descriptive title that explains the event to viewers. This title is what people will see when they view the main calendar, so make it one that will pique people’s interests and make them click on it to find out more.
