International piano duet will be featured artists during June 23-25 visit

The School of Music presents internationally celebrated pianists, the Anderson & Roe Piano Duo, as featured artists, clinicians, and jury for the OHIO International Piano Duet and Duo Competition and the Ohio University Piano Pedagogy Seminar on June 23-25 in Glidden Recital Hall at Ohio University.

Known for their adrenalized performances, original compositions, and notorious music videos, Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe are revolutionizing the piano duo experience for the 21st century. Described as “the intense synchronization of genius” (ThirdCoast Digest) and “the most dynamic duo of this generation” (San Francisco Classical Voice), The Anderson & Roe Piano Duo aims to make classical music a relevant and powerful force around the world.

The Anderson & Roe Piano Duo concert will take place on Friday, June 24 at 8:00 p.m., and is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $10 per person. The program will include works by Mozart/Busoni, Rachmaninoff, Piazzolla, Ravel, Brahms, as well as transcriptions of "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson and "What a Wonderful World" by George David Weiss & Bob Thiele.

Now in its eighth year, the Ohio University Piano Pedagogy Seminar provides piano teachers and students with professional enrichment opportunities through a series of energizing workshops, presentations, and performances. This year's program will explore a variety of relevant and stimulating pedagogical topics related to the theme of the piano in ensemble. Participants will have opportunities to share ideas and engage in dialogue with clinicians and with one another through round-table discussions and informal conversations. The event is held on the Athens campus of Ohio University in the scenic hills of southeast Ohio.

This year, the seminar will host teachers from Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, as well as Canada.

The inaugural OHIO International Piano Duet & Duo Competition will be held in conjunction with this year’s seminar, and will welcome finalists in two categories—the Senior Division (10 – 18 years old), and the Young Artist Division (19 – 28 years old)— from Canada, China, South Korea, and the United States.

The final round of the competition will be held in Glidden Recital Hall, Thursday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. with an awards ceremony at approximately 4:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
