From staff reports
As part of the Campus Involvement Center's (CIC) ongoing efforts to connect Ohio University students to community service opportunities in Athens, the CIC will host its first Volunteer Street Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.
The Fair will be held on South Court Street from Baker Center to President's Street. More than 25 community-based organizations (CBOs) will be attending and sharing the role they play in the community and the opportunities they have for students to serve.
"We are very happy to have the Volunteer Street Fair on Court Street this year," said Kevin Smith, assistant director of leadership & community service. "By working with the University College Majors Fair, we are increasing the community based organizations exposure to more than 800 first-year students. This event is the type of campus-city-community partnership we strive to develop throughout the year."
The Fair is an example of the university's continuing efforts to hold more campus and community collaborations that benefit the entire Athens area community. Fair participants include students, staff, faculty, and community members all gathered together to learn, share and create ways to support those in need in Athens.
