From staff reports
Recording artist Ben Folds will perform at Ohio University at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
Folds will perform songs from his latest album, "Lonely Avenue," on which he collaborated with English author Nick Hornby.
Folds, who is most well known as the head of the platinum-selling Ben Folds Five, has gone on to have a very successful solo career. He has released three solo studio albums and three collaboration albums, including his most recent. Some of his hit songs include "You Don’t Know Me," "The Luckiest" and "From Above."
Folds is sure to entertain all in attendance with his unconventional performing style. Past concerts have featured an array of props, improvisation, covers of popular songs and a few broken piano strings.
In addition to singing and songwriting, Folds was also one of the judges on the hit NBC Television a cappella competition, "The Sing Off."
In fact, fans of "The Sing Off" will be excited to know Street Corner Symphony, season two runner-up, is opening for Folds. The six-man a capella group is characterized by a unique, laid-back southern soul and demonstrates notable influences from artists like Take 6 and Allison Krauss.
This event is part of the OHIO Concert Series. Tickets start at $25. To order, call 740-593-1780, or visit www.ohio.edu/performingarts.
