It’s not uncommon for athletes to tear their anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL), a knee injury that requires a stint in physical therapy. Dustin Grooms, an associate professor of athletic training in the Ohio University College of Health Sciences and Professions, is concerned about the high number of athletes who return to the court or field and injure their ACL again.

Students accepted into CHSP’s nationally recognized Athletic Training program — and alumni, too — might be surprised to learn that the program as we know it today simply didn’t exist until Charles H. “Skip” Vosler came to Ohio University in 1971. What’s not surprising is that Vosler will be honored in June as one of the newest members of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Hall of Fame.
