Appalachian Writing Project
Ohio University Appalachian Writing Project
The Ohio University Appalachian Writing Program was established in 2007 as an affiliate of the National Writing Project and is housed in OU's English department. We believe that writing has the power to transform students’ learning in any subject area and that the teaching of writing can and should be central to learning. We also believe that those best qualified to teach teachers are excellent teachers themselves—teachers who know their schools, know their communities, and know what their students need to be successful. We are therefore committed to the development of the teachers of Appalachian Ohio—to helping them become better writers, thinkers, researchers, and therefore better teachers of writing.
