Why Should Veterans and Military Dependent Students Come to Ohio University?

Located in the heart of Southeast Ohio, Ohio University boasts a beautiful Appalachian setting, diverse campus and rich history. Ohio University values your experiences and provides several outstanding resources to ensure your success.  Join the over 3,500 military affiliated students currently enrolled at Ohio University along with countless veteran faculty and administrators in the college experience.

Opened in 2014, the Brigadier General Abraham and Colonel Greenfield Veterans and Military Student Services Center is conveniently located in Baker University Center Room 350, with support offices located on our regional campuses to assist you with any educational issues you may encounter.  Ohio University dedicates 3 full time employees to assist students in the use of their educational benefits and conduct supplemental advising.  Additionally, the Department of Veterans Affairs funds 13 work study positions between the main campus and each regional campus.

Ohio University has been named as an inaugural recipient of the Collegiate Purple Star Award for our dedication to being supportive and inclusive of military-connected students.  In 2018, Ohio University was awarded #8 in the nation as a Tier 2 Research Institution and in 2022, was awarded Gold as a Tier 2 Research Institution.  Some of the contributing factors in this designation is OU's participation in the 'Service members Opportunity College Consortium', 'Principles of Excellence Program', specific policies established to allow students to attend VA appointments without penalty, and creation of veteran delegates on the Student Senate bodies.
