A new 13-foot bronze artwork by Ohio University School of Art Professor Emeritus David Hostetler, titled IKON, was unveiled on Oct. 17 at a private ceremony in the plaza across from The Sheffield condominiums in New York City.
This is the second public art piece in New York City for the 85-year-old Ohio native. The first bronze piece, titled The Duo, was created in 1997 and installed in 2006. The Duo is located at Trump International Hotel and Tower at Columbus Circle.
The World War II veteran is pleased and honored by the placement of a second public art commission in the city. His documentary film "David Hostetler: The Last Dance" won four Emmys last year and is airing on public television. For more than 60 years, Hostetler has focused on the female form in wood and bronze.
