President welcomes OHIO faculty and staff

On Tuesday, Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis sent an email to all OHIO faculty and staff to welcome them back to the University.

Dear Colleagues:

As we embark together on a new academic year, it is important to recognize the energy, passion and creativity within our University community. Your unflagging commitment to our students is inspiring. Thank you for the meaningful ways you challenge and support our students as they each fulfill their unique promise.

Through the work that we do together, we are creating transformational experiences for the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and innovators. The scholarship, research, and creative activity that thrive in this transformational setting lifts up our region, our state, and our nation while elevating the human condition in thousands of ways.

As a community it is important for us to come together at the beginning of the 2011-12 academic year to celebrate the past and look to the future. In that spirit, we will hold a Faculty and Staff Convocation at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 8th, in the Margaret M. Walter Hall Rotunda on the Athens Campus. Distinguished Professor Mark Halliday will welcome those present and I will deliver a State of the University Address. For those who are unable to attend in person, the Convocation will be streamed on the web at: http://streaming.cns.ohiou.edu/president/.

Thank you for all you have done and all you continue to do for our beloved university. I hope to see you at the Faculty and Staff Convocation on September 8th!

Cordially,

Roderick J. McDavis
President
