From staff reports
On Monday, the Division of Student Affairs sent an email to all Athens faculty and staff requesting volunteers to help with move in.
Greetings from GO Green!
Are you looking for a fun activity on the Thursday and Friday of fall opening? Need to get away from the desk for a few hours of outdoor adventure? Are you interested in welcoming new students and parents? Please consider becoming a GO Green Guide!
As you may be aware, the Division of Student Affairs coordinates a number of campus staff and events to welcome incoming students to Ohio University during move in days. Go Green Guides work during regular business hours on the campus greens to help ensure that the arrival of our new students is as efficient and welcoming as possible. Go Green Guides also help out during Friday night's Bobcat Bash in Baker University Center and Sunday afternoon's President's Convocation.
This year we are looking to fill 100 slots over the Go Green Weekend. Shifts during the workdays (Thursday, August 23 and Friday, August 24) are from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Participation in this event during the workdays is subject to the approval of your current supervisor. Questions pertaining to release time may be directed to Human Resources at 740-593-1636. Outside of work opportunities to help out are during the Bobcat Bash on Friday, August 24 from 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. - midnight.
The Bobcat Bash is held at Baker University Center and is an activity filled evening for new first year-students. Staff members are needed to help with the casino games, refreshments, and monitoring of other activities. Lastly, we are also in need of ushers for the President’s Convocation on Sunday, August 26 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Go Green Guides will be provided with an official Go Green t-shirt, an opportunity to learn more about our events during opening weekend, and a chance to meet and greet new students! This is a fun and positive experience for both you and our new students and parents.
To sign up for these amazing opportunities please access the following link http://www.ohio.edu/housing/busops/gogreen.cfm and simply add your information and availability. We appreciate your prompt response no later than Thursday, August 16. Once you are signed up, you will need to attend one of two short training sessions so that we can review the role of Guides. These sessions will be held in Baker University Center 231 on Monday, August 20from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. and Tuesday August 21 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Please mark your calendars now.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail our Go Green Coordinator, Ardy Gonyer (740-593-2629 or 419-601-0715) (firstname.lastname@example.org). Thank you in advance for helping Go Green and the new incoming students of Ohio University.
