PMBA student named top 'Forty Under 40' by Columbus Business First

List honors Central Ohio's most outstanding young professionals

Ohio University alumnae and current Professional MBA student Jeff Dennis was honored in The Columbus Business First's 2012 class of the top "Forty Under 40."

Celebrating the 20th award ceremony, the program took place Wednesday, May 23, at the Columbus Athenaeum. Honorees were included in a special publication in Business First's May 25 issue.

Dennis graduated with an advertising management degree from Ohio University in 2005 from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.

Today Dennis serves as the director of marketing & business development at Kegler Brown Hill & Ritter Co. LPA, one of the largest law firms in Central Ohio.

In addition to his role at the law firm, he also owns a real estate holding company, Palmer One Seven LLC, and dedicates much of his time to developing his nonprofit enterprise Rock and Fire Cause Marketing.

"A degree from Ohio University is so incredibly valuable," said Dennis. "Whatever success I have is directly attributable to OU, I would recommend for anyone to take advantage of the network around them."

The 29-year-old was the youngest honoree, and the only candidate under 30. Dennis considers his achievement as a very humbling experience.

"I always thought it was important to give back," Dennis said. "In high school, college, or now I was always involved in a bunch of organizations to give my time and help make situations better, I think it's important for anyone who wants to be a well-rounded person and professional."

Nominations were taken for people in Central Ohio, under the age of 40, who have not previously won the award. Nominees are reviewed and scored on four criteria: reason for nomination, professional development, awards and recognitions, and community involvement.

Catherine Cheugh, chief operating officer at Kegler Brown, nominated Dennis. She described him as an ideal candidate for the honor and credited his qualities and proven commitment to lead young people.
