In recent years, there have been a number of proposed changes to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS).
These changes are both on an internal level and on a legislative level.
The proposed OPERS changes affect the eligibility requirements for retirement (age and service requirements) as well as how retirement benefits are calculated. The proposed STRS changes increase member contributions, change eligibility requirements for retirement (age and service requirements), and change how retirement benefits are calculated.
