The annual Administrative Service Awards Ceremony and the Outstanding Administrator awards will be held at 3 p.m. May 16 in the Baker Center Ballroom. The event recognizes administrators employed for 10 years or more for their service to the institution, and recognizes retiring administrators.
The administrators selected to receive the Outstanding Administrator Award this year are Assistant Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs Shane Gilkey, Director of Diversity for Regional Campuses, Office of Diversity, Access and Equity Monica Jones and Director of the Child Development Center Cathy Waller.
First given in 1975, Outstanding Administrator Awards are presented annually to individuals who exemplify a strong commitment and distinguished service to Ohio University. The awards program is sponsored by Administrative Senate and voted on by a nine-member Administrative Senate committee.
The following retirees with more than 30 years of service to Ohio University will be honored.
Joyice Adkins-Childs, manager of training and communications for Information Technology, June 2012 (35.4 years)
Kathy Brooks, chief financial officer for the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, July 2012 (33.3 years)
Gary Dicken, director of property management and moving services, March 2012 (33.9 years)
Richard Herbert McFarland, Professor Emeritus in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology and chief engineer and director emeritus of avionics, December 2011 (49.3 years)
Ellen Peterson, geriatric education coordinator for the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, July 2012 (40.2 years)
Cheryl Riley, assistant dean for academic affairs operations for the College Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, July 2012 (30.8 years)
Duane Starkey, director of IT business services and special projects, July 2012 (30.11 years)
