From staff reports
Ohio University-Athens is currently experiencing power outages on campus.
In order to effectively address the issue, we are asking that all non-essential electrical devices be immediately powered off until further notice, even after power is restored. We will be sending a follow up email no later than 12:30 p.m.
Update 12:08 p.m.: Partial power has been restored to the Athens campus. To ensure the restoration continues to go smoothly, please minimize the use of non-essential electrical devices. Thank you for your assistance in reducing our power load.
Update Nov. 21: Over the weekend Ohio University was able to repair the transformer that experienced the fault on Friday and it is still operating. Today, the contractor for the computer has been in and repaired the computer that automatically runs our switchgear. As of 10 a.m., a “hot” transfer occurred and the campus is now operating on two transformers again.
The University thanks you for your assistance and patience during this time.
