Alden Library to host annual mini-golf outing during Dad's Weekend

Ohio University Libraries will hold their second annual Alden Open Mini-Golf Outing from 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, just in time for Dad's Weekend.

They will enjoy tricky turns and challenging angles as they putt through the shelves and displays in Alden. Floors three, four and five will be transformed into a mini-golf dreamland complete with themed holes and decorated greens.

Green fees are $5 for nine holes and $10 for 18 holes and all golfing equipment will be provided. The proceeds from the event will go to benefit students participating in the Ohio University annual Student Research and Creativity Expo.

"The money we raise will go directly to students to support their research activities," said Douglas Partusch, director of development at Ohio University Libraries. "This is a great way to showcase the library with a fun event for students and parents, while raising money for a good cause."

Sponsors for the event include The Legend Group, The United States Air Force, The Summit at Coates Run, and University Courtyard.

"We look forward to helping the Alden Library Mini-Golf Outing grow in 2012," said Todd Stout, regional vice president of the main event sponsor, The Legend Group.

Participants will be provided with food, refreshments, and raffle prizes as they experience the library in a whole new way. Participant photos, including green screen photos of a real golf course will be available to view and download on the Alden Library Facebook page following the event.

"We thought this would be a great event for Dad's Weekend. Last year, we had over 100 participants and we hope to double that this year," said Partusch. "Food, prizes and indoor mini-golf, how can you beat it?"

Golfers can register prior to the event at the 2nd Annual Alden Open Facebook event page or at the event.
