International Photo Contest submissions on display at Court Street Coffee

The OHIO community submitted photos from Malaysia to Mexico in this year's International Photography Contest, capturing some of the most memorable faces and places that they have experienced.

More than 100 contest submissions are currently on display at Court Street Coffee, located at 67 South Court Street. The display runs through May 22, as a part of International Week 2011.

The display's grand opening event will take place Tuesday, May 17, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the coffee shop.

According to event organizers, the variety of locations represented is testament to the wealth of international experience that Ohio University students and staff possess.

“The aim of the photo contest is to use people's experiences to encourage others to look into starting their own abroad experience," said junior public relations major Heather Farr, a publicity assistant with the Office of Education Abroad.

The International Photography Contest is sponsored annually by the Office of Education Abroad. The contest's People, Places and Animals categories were open to all OHIO students. A fourth category was reserved for faculty, staff and alumni.

Submissions were due in March and judged by a three-member panel, which included:

  • Director of the Office of Education Abroad Catherine Marshall
  • Director of the School of Visual Communication Terry Eiler
  • Lamborn’s Studio and Custom Framing Owner Fred Tom
