The Ohio University Alumni Association will be providing a variety of fun-filled activities, beginning Friday, Oct. 15 to make this year’s Homecoming weekend packed with entertainment.
The festivities begin with the annual Alumni Awards Gala to be held in Baker University Center at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. This black tie optional affair will include a reception, dinner and program honoring 10 esteemed alumni and one honorary alumnus.
Also on Friday, a BBQ and Historical Hayrides will be held at The Ridges at 6 p.m. The BBQ will be held in The Ridges Auditorium for $15 per person, with children under three free.
Hayrides will take place every 30 minutes beginning at 6 p.m., with the last ride starting at 8 p.m. There will also be two walking tours of The Ridges, one at 6:10 p.m. and one at 7:10 p.m. Local historians will give a brief history of The Ridges on all hayrides and walking tours. Cost is $5 per person except for children under the age of three who are free to attend. There will also be another opportunity for hayrides and two walking tours at The Ridges on Saturday evening.
The events set for Saturday, Oct. 16 begin with an Alumni Coffee Hour to be held in Baker University Center Front Room from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. All coffee is free from the Ohio University Alumni Association with a business card or through filling out a form provided at the door.
At this year’s parade, which starts at 10 a.m., will be crowd favorite performances by the Alumni Marching Band, parade marshal and Alumnus of the Year, David Hostetler, the Alumni Awardee Trolley and the Alumni Association float.
At 11 a.m. the Bobcat Bash begins on the first floor of Grover Center and will include music, game day foods and raffles. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. This event will be held in preparation for the OHIO vs. Akron football game and will last until the game kicks off at 2 p.m.
