MLK Celebration of the Arts honors MLK legacy

Event part of weeklong celebration of MLK day

This student-produced video takes a brief look at the 2011 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration of the Arts event, which took place in Baker University Center Theater on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

The event was held to celebrate MLK's legacy through the arts, which the late civil rights leader enjoyed throughout his life. It featured a reading of excerpts from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 letters from the Birmingham jail and  vocal and dance performances from student and community groups.

The video was produced and edited by Kiersten Smith, a junior media arts and studies student. The photographs were taken by Emily Martin, a senior visual communication student. Both students work for University Communications and Marketing.
