As commodore, he will aid state in development and economic growth

Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis was inducted into the Association of Ohio Commodores on July 11 during a ceremony in Cleveland.

The Association of Ohio Commodores is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group recognized by the governor of Ohio for business accomplishments, acumen and leadership. Administered by the Ohio
Department of Development's Global Markets Division, the Commodores' purpose is to assist the state in advancements leading to economic growth, development and greater prosperity.

"I am humbled to be bestowed with this honor and to join the distinguished company of the Association of Ohio Commodores," McDavis said. "However, this recognition is something I share with Ohio University faculty, staff, and students. It is because of their great work that Ohio University has contributed mightily to the economic development of our region and our state."

Janine Conrad, executive director of the Commodores, said in a news release that McDavis was given the state's most distinguished honor when he was inducted into the association and given The Executive Order of the Ohio Commodore.

"[Commodores] contribute to the growth of the state of Ohio through the donation of time, money or ideas for the betterment of the citizens of the state of Ohio," Conrad said.
