Ellen Gill Franks
Ellen M. Gill-Franks is a junior at Ohio University, majoring in English Pre-Law and Sociology Criminology with a certificate in Law, Justice & Culture. She is a Claire O. and Charles J. Ping Cutler Scholar and a College of Arts and Sciences Scholar. She currently works as a Pre-Law Associate in the Center for Law, Justice & Culture. In the upcoming school year, she will serve as Ohio University Student Trustee, President of the Ohio University Mock Trial Team, Assistant Director of Students Defending Students, and will remain an active member of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity. During the 2019-2020 academic year, Gill-Franks served as the Academic Affairs Commissioner for Ohio University Student Senate. As an extension of this role, she was an executive on the University Academic Advising Council, and was a member of the University Curriculum Council and the Fall 2020 Curriculum Scenario Planning Team. During the summer of 2020, Gill-Franks served as a research assistant for the Ohio Innocence Project and an intern at Southeastern Ohio Legal Services. In the spring of 2019, she studied transitional justice on the Human Rights, Law & Justice in Northern Ireland study abroad program. After graduation, Gill-Franks plans to earn her Juris Doctor degree to later use to protect and advocate for underprivileged populations.
