Caroline Wilson

Specializations: Ethnography, poverty and food insecurity, rural Appalachia, Positive Deviance

Caroline Wilson is a 2019 graduate of the Communication Studies department at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Caroline spent the majority of her undergraduate career conducting ethnographic research on poverty and food insecurity in rural Central North Carolina and plans to engage in similar research as she continues her education at Ohio University. Originally from the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, Caroline is interested in shifting the focus of her research to how poverty and food insecurity affect rural Appalachia. Caroline is optimistic about the potential of relationship-based communication theories, such as Dr. Arvind Singhal’s work in Positive Deviance, to innovate the field of social change.
