John Michael “Mike” Geringer has joined Ohio University’s College of Business as the executive director of the Center for International Business Education and Development (CIBED) and the new O'Bleness Professor of International Strategy.
“The College of Business is at an exciting crossroads with its commitment to provide students with international education and internship opportunities, its support of the faculty and its commitment to internationalizing the curriculum,” said Geringer.
Geringer will be responsible for overseeing a new major in International Business, assisting in internationalization of the curriculum within the college, managing existing international education and training programs and helping identify and implement new programs and partnerships worldwide for executive training, graduate programs, undergraduate programs, student internships and faculty exchanges.
College of Business Dean Hugh Sherman said the center, college and University are fortunate to have hired an executive director with extensive industry and academic experience.
“We are confident he will provide strong and innovative leadership for the CIBED,” Sherman said.
Geringer is an award-winning researcher, teacher and consultant. He has an international reputation for his work in strategic management, international business, joint ventures and alliances, mergers and acquisitions, entrepreneurship, venture capital and the management of technological and human resources. He has also published 27 books and written 140 papers.
CIBED coordinates all of the international programs at the College of Business. Reflecting its motto of “Transcending the Classroom to Transform Lives,” CIBED is dedicated to providing profoundly transformative experiences to the College’s students through a broad array of international and cross-cultural programs and experiences that occur both within and beyond the traditional classroom environment. Programs and experiences include the Global Consulting Program, the Cross-cultural Leadership Immersion Program, the Ohio International Consulting Program, international internships, student exchanges, an innovative academic major and certificate program in International Business and a variety of graduate and executive development programs.
