Lancaster – Representatives from Ohio University Lancaster | Pickerington are out in the community this week at local events reaching out to former students about what the campus is up to now and potential students about what they can do on campus in the future.
"Ohio University Lancaster | Pickerington is a part of Fairfield County," said Communications and Marketing Manager Cheri Russo. "It's important for us to participate in events that are part of the communities we serve."
Students and representatives from the Pickerington Center had a table at the Taste of Pickerington on Saturday, October 5th. The event highlighted businesses in Pickerington with a focus on food tasting.
"Having a table at an event like Taste of Pickerington is a way to connect with community members and let them know about the higher education opportunities that are available at the Pickerington Center," said Recruiter Melanie Garrabrant. "The Pickerington Center is an affordable option for higher education that is close to home."
Representatives from the Lancaster Campus and Pickerington Center are working a booth at the Fairfield County Fair this week. Free Ohio University Lancaster | Pickerington water bottles, magnets and pencils are being distributed to those who stop by.
"It's a chance for us to reconnect with former students who have a lot of pride in the campus," said Russo. "Many people who attended OUL stop at the booth and tell us how the opportunity to take classes in their own back yard transformed their lives."
This is the 163rd year of the Fairfield County Fair. It runs through October 12 at the fairgrounds in Lancaster.
