Join bioinformatics expert Peter White for his lecture on the Churchill approach to computational analysis and its impact on next-generation genetic sequencing in a Bioinformatics Distinguished Lecture on Tues., Feb. 25, from 1:30- 2:30 p.m. in Baker University Center 231.
Churchill is a cloud-enabled, ultra-fast computational approach for the discovery of human genetic variation. This approach overcomes past limitations, fully automating the analytic process. Through new parallelization techniques, the analysis time has been drastically reduced for whole human genome re-sequencing from weeks to hours, without the need for specialized analysis equipment or supercomputers.
White is currently the director of Biomedical Genomics Core, director of molecular bioinformatics at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital, an investigator for the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis and assistant professor of pediatrics at the Ohio State University.
