Emergency Programs announced the schedule for its fall semester brown bag training sessions

The Office of Emergency Programs would like to announce the following brown bag training sessions for the summer and fall semesters:

“Ohio University Risk Management & Insurance”

Tuesday, Aug. 7, noon – 1 p.m. Baker University Center 235

Larry Wines, director of enterprise risk management and insurance, will present on the common risks faced by higher education and steps for risk reduction; the role of the Inter-University Counsel (IUC-IC); as well as group insurance programs which Ohio University manages. Scenarios such as how the university manages and addresses incidents on and off campus (eg. motor vehicle accidents, property claims, etc.) and how to report events will be reviewed.

ALICE (Active Shooter) Training Sessions for Faculty/Teaching Assistants and Staff

Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate (ALICE). One goal of this training is to encourage and promote this discussion, but to also help you to be more prepared should an active should an active shooter incident occur. Test your readiness, learn about options and gain confidence in your abilities to react by attending one of these sessions. LIMIT OF 30 PEOPLE PER CLASS

“How to Gain Work Productivity with Office 365”

Oct. 18, noon - 1 p.m. Baker Center 235

OIT Application Support will provide an overview of the advanced functionality of Office 365 to include the suite of available office applications and collaborative tools that allow for mobile, desktop, and web-based application usage. The suite includes Microsoft applications for collaboration including: Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive for Business, Office 365 Groups, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business and OneNote.

“Playing with Disaster - A Card Game and Instant Tabletop Exercise!”

Nov. 27, noon – 1 p.m. - Baker Center 230

Bev Wyatt will demonstrate an “instant exercise” that can be used as a departmental training to test a staff’s business continuity readiness. This exercise requires no knowledge of poker, rummy or other card game. Come with an open mind and willingness to learn how to play.
