Graphic Designers break boundaries in BFA Exhibition “Off the Grid”

Ohio University’s School of Art + Design graphic design students will present “Off the Grid,” a thesis exhibition on view March 25 to 30 at the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, with an opening reception that is free and open to the public on Tuesday, March 26, at 5 p.m.

While each project in the exhibition varies in theme and medium, collectively, this show of 28 student works reflects the artistic and conceptual uniqueness of OHIO’s graphic design program, guided by a curriculum encouraging mastery of core design principles and multidisciplinary experimentation.

The driving force behind “Off the Grid” blurs the lines between art and design, exploring the relationship between tradition and experimentation, and focusing on breaking boundaries through a diversity of perspectives.

The exhibition will open with a talk by keynote speaker, Cari Jones, president of Elephant Creative Co., followed by a reception in the gallery with catering provided by Purple Chopstix. Jones founded Elephant Creative Co. in 2016, after 13 years serving as designer, art director and marketing director for a number of companies both large and small, including the YMCA, Assurant Solutions and BrownBoots Interactive, Inc. among others.
