From staff reports
On Friday, Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis sent an email to the entire University community informing them about the new secretary for the Board of Trustees.
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:
I am very pleased to announce that our Board of Trustees has named Dr. Peter Mather, Associate Professor and Coordinator for Ohio University's Higher Education and Student Affairs program, as Secretary to the Board of Trustees. Dr. Mather begins his role on July 1.
A member of our faculty in the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education for nearly seven years, Dr. Mather's experience extends to progressively responsible positions in university administration stemming back to his time at Emory and Duke universities. He brings a deep understanding of higher education, university administration, organizational communication, and leadership. He undoubtedly will continue to make meaningful contributions to Ohio University and serve as an able representative of our Board of Trustees in his new position. In addition to these new responsibilities, Dr. Mather will continue his work as Associate Professor and Coordinator for the Higher Education and Student Affairs program, serving as a part-time faculty member in the Patton College's Higher Education program.
The search committee, chaired by Dr. Hugh Sherman, Dean of the College of Business, put forth a strong pool of candidates for this important position. On behalf of our Board of Trustees and university community, I thank Dr. Sherman and the members of the search committee for their great work in completing this successful search.
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Pete to the Office of the Board of Trustees!
Roderick J. McDavis
