Student Employment

There are various types of student employment at Ohio University. To simplify your job search, we have divided these opportunities into the categories below. If you have any questions or concerns about student employment, please feel free to contact the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Both PACE and Federal Work-Study wages will increase to $7.95 beginning January 1, 2014 due to Ohio's minimum wage increase. PACE students can continue working 10 hours a week, not to exceed the annual earnings maximum of $2,370. Federal Work-Study students are limited to working 7 hours a week for the Spring semester.

Federal Work-Study

  • University employment positions
  • Must be defined as having financial need per the FAFSA and be awarded a Federal Work-Study position
  • Hours: up to 7 hours per week for Spring semester 2014
  • Base rate: $7.95 per hour
  • Must be enrolled
  • Undergraduate students only
  • Positions available for fall and spring semesters
  • Students may NOT hold a federal work-study and a PACE position at the same time
  • Community Service application is available for community services positions including Summer Service Corps

Student Hourly Employment 

  • University employment positions
  • No financial need; possible grade point average requirement
  • Hours: up to 20 hours per week for 15 weeks per semester
  • Pay: varies
  • Must be enrolled

Program to Aid Career Exploration (PACE) 

  • Internship-like work experience
  • Hours: up to 10 hours per week for 15 weeks per semester
  • Pay: $7.95 per hour
  • To be eligible: must have
    1. completed 15 semester hours of coursework
    2. maintained at least 2.3 accumulative grade point average
    3. demonstrate a need for earnings
  • Must be enrolled
  • Undergraduate students only
  • Positions available for fall and spring semesters
  • Students may NOT hold a federal work-study and a PACE position at the same time
