President McDavis accepts ALS ice bucket challenge

Event moved to Walter Fieldhouse due to weather


Ohio University President Roderick McDavis has accepted an icy challenge from Kent State President Beverly Warren. With help from Rufus and the OHIO football team, McDavis will join the thousands of others across the country in the Ice Bucket Challenge in support of the ALS Association in the new Walter Fieldhouse, Thursday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m.

The event was originally scheduled for Peden Stadium, but was moved due to inclement weather.

As of today, the Ice Bucket Challenge has raised over $31 million to support the ALS Association provide care for victims of the disease and their families. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor functions of the brain and spinal cord, resulting in loss of muscle control, paralysis and eventually death.
