Teri Geiger, Ohio University director of government relations, has accepted the position of state director for U.S. Senator-elect Rob Portman. She will begin her new position on Jan. 3, 2011.
Geiger served in her position for the past five years. In her position, she worked with state and national governments on behalf of the interests of Ohio University.
In an e-mail sent out to all OHIO faculty and staff, President Roderick J. McDavis said, “She fostered relationships and partnerships with state and federal government officials on our behalf and secured federal and state funding vital to supporting the scholarship, innovation, and creative activity that make Ohio University a place of excellence.”
In the coming weeks, McDavis will announce an interim director of government relations and the members of the position’s search committee, which will launch a search for a replacement.
In his e-mail, McDavis shared an appreciation for Geiger’s past efforts and his best wishes for her continuing success.
“I hope you will join me in wishing Teri and her family success, health and happiness as she continues to represent our University amongst our nation's leaders as a distinguished alumna of Ohio University,” he said.
