Greg Emery

Greg Emery has been the Director of the Global Leadership Center since 2000. Dr. Emery holds an MBA (finance concentration) and a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion. He has recently been awarded Fulbright Senior Specialist status to develop leadership programs in Cambodia (University of Cambodia). He has lectured, done research, and managed consulting projects in Japan, China, Mexico, Hong Kong, and the Czech Republic. In addition to serving as an education advisor for the U.S. Embassy in Malaysia, he has supervised projects for various European embassies in Washington, D.C. Dr. Emery is currently engaged in a variety of international outreach, development, and leadership projects, including projects done in conjunction with Bangkok University (Thailand), Wyzsza Szkola Biznesu (Poland), the University of Liberia (Liberia), Marriott International, the International Red Cross, and the State of Ohio's International Trade Division. He has also made presentations at such international conferences as the Asia Economic Forum. Finally, and as the GLC is an affiliate of Harvard University's Pluralism Project, he runs the annual GLC project devoted to documenting leadership issues in a nearby Hindu community.



Bojinka Bishop

Professor Bojinka Bishop joined Ohio University's Scripps School of Journalism after 20 years as a public relations and public communication professional. In addition to her work in the U.S., she has experience in communication and NGO development projects in Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine and has traveled in Japan, Tunisia, Mexico, and western Europe. She is a Faculty Fellow with the Voinovich Center and writes and conducts research on Authentic Communication and public participation.



Pang Pichayalak Pichayakulhas

Dr. Pang Pichayalak Pichayakul has been with the GLC since Fall 2005. She is now working on her second PhD.-Individual Interdisciplinary Program which consists of three areas: Communications, Telecommunication, and Southeast Asian Studies. She has earned a Bachelor Degree of Economics from Chiang Mai University,Thailand, an MBA from Eastern Michigan University, USA and a Doctor of Philosophy in Management from Adamson University, Philippines. Besides her academic work, she has spent her time in exploring the beauty of cultural differences; she has traveled around Asia, North America, Europe, and, Australia. Her interests are business, tourism, and culture.



Samuel Wai Johnson

Samuel Wai Johnson is from Liberia. He is pursuing a graduate degree in International Development with a concentration in Economic Policy in the Center for International Studies at Ohio University. Sam received his undergraduate degree in Economics with a minor in Demography from the University of Liberia and a Certificate in Peace building from the West Africa Peace building Institute in Ghana. Before entering Ohio University, Sam worked as a journalist, a junior officer for UNICEF Liberia Office and a teaching assistant in the Department of Economics at the University of Liberia. As a journalist, he worked with various media organizations in Liberia, including the USAID funded STAR radio and the radio station of the Catholic Church, Radio Veritas. He has held leadership positions in the Press Union of Liberia, the umbrella organization for journalists working in Liberia.





Art Oestrike is finishing his Masters in Applied Linguistics from Ohio University this Fall (2007). He completed his undergraduate degrees at Ohio University in 2001, studying History, Education and Russian. While studying in Moscow in the Spring of 1996 through Ohio (University)'s Study Abroad program, Art discovered a passion for language and international adventure. Having worked as an English instructor in South Korea (2001-4) and in the Ohio Program of Intensive English at OU (2004-present), he has developed a worldly perspective while intermingling with people form all over the world. He is also part owner in two businesses in uptown Athens, Ohio, thereby learning a wide array of knowledge, including delegation, problem solving, mediation and management, to name a few. Art began working with the GLC in the Spring of 2007 while acting as the support teacher for students from Chubu University in Japan. Art is ecstatic to have joined the Global Leadership Center and plans to pursue his PhD in OU's Individual Interdisciplinary Program. His doctorate will include studies in Intercultural Communication, Informational Technology, and Linguistics.



Administration


Gayle McKerrow

Gayle McKerrow, Assistant to the Director, has been with the GLC since it began. Her experience includes eighteen years as a paralegal/abstracter in Orono, Maine, prior to moving to Athens. She obtained a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Maine, and has traveled in Italy, Hong Kong, Ireland, Denmark, and Thailand.



Dana Coffman

Dana Coffman is a junior at Ohio University and a program assistant for the GLC. Her major is Communications and Public Advocacy with a concentration in Political Science. After graduation in Spring 2008, Dana plans to move out west to attend graduate school. In her spare time, she loves to read and catch up with friends and family. This is Dana's second year as a GLC program assistant.





Vanessa Vetula is a sophomore telecommunications major with a concentration in management. She is a program assistant for the GLC. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her friends and family. This is Vanessa’s first year working with the GLC.



Brian Powers

Brian Powers is a junior at Ohio University and the Computer Technician, Network Administrator, and Webmaster for the GLC.  His majors are Trumpet Performance and Pre-Medicine with a minor in Chemistry. Brian was the Webmaster and Computer Technician for Rimrock Opera of Billings, MT from 2000 - 2004 and continues to do freelance network consulting in and around whatever community he is in. After graduation, he plans to go to Australia and New Zealand for a year to work and travel before enrolling in graduate school to earn a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. This is Brian's second year working with the GLC.
