Ohio University Zanesville's ECEE 3801 Play and Creativity in Early Childhood and Elementary Education students met at Riverside Park for an outdoor class! It's the first time They've been together since March.
The subject of the class was Social Emotional Development and the Visual Arts. The students learned about how to use the arts to help children manage their big emotions. There was a guest speaker who talked to them about using techniques such as Zentangling and pour painting to reduce stress and express emotions. The students enjoyed creating their own beautiful pour paintings. After months of being isolated, the students were happy to spend time together and reported that their own stress levels were much lower at the end of the evening. A great time was had by all.
